TIDES OF WAR SPOILERS →

cazamonster:

kokiron:

From someone who supposedly got the book early. I don’t. I can’t.

I’m not a lore nerd or anything but

LOL @ the interactions between Jaina and other characters. A lot of this sounds funnier than it should.

I AM GLAD I WAS NOT DRINKING ANYTHING WHEN I READ THE LAST LINE OF THAT SPOILERPOST.

Old (ICC!) world of warcraft druid sketch digitally inked and given some color. Continuing attempts to draw or color something every day a success so far. I also did some still life work when I was out this morning. Don’t feel improved or challenged though— I probably need to draw from references of people instead.

Derp from the Dark Side: 30 Days of Swtor: Least favorite WarzoneCivil War… I mean Arathi... →

30 Days of Swtor:Least favorite Warzone

Civil War… I mean Arathi Basin… I mean Civil War

WoW: AJSDHAH STABLES! NO MINES! NO STAAAAAABLES

SWTOR: AJSHDKH MID! NO RIGHT! NO OTHER RIGHT! MIIIIIIIID

I have had time to sit down and converse with someone from the OPPOSITE TEAM about how shitty their team was. Not even kidding. We both went to the east turret so we could tab out and check tumblr.

We only fought when someone from my team came over to check.

I have time to write PORN in this one… PORN!

which makes the argument for it being an ok warzone.

Still…its arathi basin…in space…*dusts off hands* done and done

It’s not properly Arathi Basin till someone kills you with a knockback off the edge of lumbermill. >_>

The whole ‘right, no the other right’ thing drives me nuts though! SWTOR warzones have a lot of advantages over their wow counterparts (Defense of the Ancients without vehicles, fuck yeah, passing mechanics in Huttball you can use without vent vs Warsong Gulch where a non-vent team generally only passes when no enemy players are around) but they could use more physical differentiation between points. Grass & Snow sort of works in Civil War, but there’s absolutely no good way to call things in Novare Coast or Voidstar.

xaien:

I tried to name all the places in WoW after about a year of not playing

now I realize how weird as hell some of the names were and wonder how I ever remembered them while playing.

Coming up on a year for me soon, but I still remember enough to crack up over the number of Tanaris-es on that map of… of… the left continent damnit!

Kalimdor.

Hah. See, I remembered it eventually!

Endgame Raiding: Cata, Wrath, SW:TOR

KIN Raiders released their video of the world first Heroic Madness of Deathwing kill today, and it made me want to revisit my favorite progression raiding video ever. So here’s Paragon’s H25 Lich King kill.

Comparing the two videos, Paragon obviously has better editing (the fancy into) and the advantage of english voiceovers / translations, but I also think the LK fight has the advantage of inherent movement. Watching the 25m raid run in circles while yelling about aura mastery is a lot more exciting than watching them wail on deathwing’s left arm. Additionally, the adds in the first phase of the lich king fight had to be handled through a mechanic, while all of the deathwing adds need to be dpsed. Additionally, the LK fight has three distinct phases while the Madness of Deathwing has two, and the second is only at 20% and includes an ‘ignore everything, dps the boss’ finish.

It’d almost make me buy into the ‘Warcraft has the B team now’ story people like to rage about, except that the Ragnaros fight was more than crazy enough. There’s also the ‘the bosses were killed too fast’ whine, but when you look at the facts, pretty much every ungated boss ever went down quickly. The only way to stop that is with ridiculous gear requirements that’d make the fight impossible for players who aren’t at the pro level. As a sidenote, gating allows for players to gear up more relative to attempts, which is why the ungated bosses in Cata required more attempts than H-LK.

Now, here’s a guide video to the last boss in the Eternity Vault. (You knew this was going to loop around to Star Wars: the Old Republic eventually, right?) This is on the normal difficulty which is about LFR equivalent. I don’t want to spoil the fight, so I’ll do a very general comparison and you should stop reading now if you don’t even want that, but… Three defined phases, inherent movement, plus about five other mechanics.

When I saw players going against the first boss of EV in normal, it looked pretty boring. Same for the second guy, though when I was watching a stream of that fight more recently, it seemed like there were some new adds (or else the stream was on hard instead of normal). However, looking at the normal version of the Soa fight (the swtor video I just linked), I think I may have started worrying too soon. Slap an extra hard/nightmare mechanic or two in there, add some epic music, and this will be fun.

This took so long, the gear is now out of date and the player’s character is transmogrified into purple judgement. BUT I FINISHED.

Work in progress, a tauren paladin for one of my guildies in World of Warcraft. I took some minor liberties with the armor design to make it fit a tauren better.
I love this paladin set, so I am enjoying the hell out of drawing it. Lots of shading, bright colors, and contrast to look forward to.
