I wish all chairs in cantinas and everywhere else were useable like on the bridges of the ships. It gets awkward not having a sitting emote that is actually relevant to the environment.
This, and hard. It’s really awkward to sprawl sideways on a barstool.
Don’t forget clipping into the couches, or even better: floating.

Hello, Sith Warrior Chapter 3! Hello, totally hilarious Quinn companion dialogue unlocks! (Oh my god, Moff Brysc.)
And things sure do start off with a BANG! *cackle*
I’ve already been spoiled on a lot of the plot, but that’s actually only making it more fun! The anticipation is delicious.

So about that January content patch for SWTOR? I hope you like zombie-horror.
Apparently the first half of the legacy system is coming too! Check out the associated interview with details here.
One thing I’m wondering now: the legacy system is described as relating characters as “a sibling, a son, a father, a family friend, or a husband and wife.” Will they allow same-sex parings for husband and wife? Will they allow “lovers”? Obviously if they have father in there, they should have mother too, so it’s not an exhaustive list. But if they don’t allow same sex parings again, I am going to be very displeased.
Of course, the relational aspect is probably not even going to be required, because what a pain. Or if it is, it might not be visible to other players, in which case, one could ask, who cares? Fake a screenshot and party. But still. >:|

Emmanuel Lusinchi:
Since this is a fairly important issue to many players, let me disclose more details about what is currently in the work regarding purple items and mods:
- All partially moddable purple items will be made fully moddable again, allowing the removal of the armoring, hilt and barrel.
- The set bonus of end gear purples (PVP and PVE) will be transferable to custom items.
- Some item modifications will be restricted to a certain item type. For example, some item modifications will only fit on helmets, while other will only fit on chests, etc.
Whoahhhhhhhh. Armor crafting is about to be a lot more profitable. I guess I’ll just enjoy my grenades and fancy speederbikes. Maybe there’ll be an increase in the low level mod market as a side effect?
AND AND AND: if this opens up to color crystals, people can pull the purples and suchlike out of the battlemaster sabers and sell them! Purple lightsabers, everywhere!

Being a Sith Lord on Taris is almost as good as being a Sith Lord on Dromund Kass. Jedi to crush, monsters to squash, the power of the dark side on display everywhere… I still have the best part of the class quest left, too!
P.S. Nautolans are adorable and I want them to be playable. I want them to be playable, starting yesterday.

There’s a new Sith Lord in the galaxy.
…and now that I am done with chapter 1, I can slow down a little. Maybe. This is the point where I went nuts on skipping everything but the class quests in the beta, so there should be some cool stuff to see if I actually do the side quests. Meanwhile, on the Quinn front, I have a ridiculous amount of +affection points. I got 3100 early on Tattooine, but he won’t give that conversation until after Alderaan, so you can imagine how far ahead I am now. >_<

Being a cybertech is awesome. I wear medium armor. My first two (and favorite two) companions also wear medium armor. All I gotta do is swap some cunning mods in over the strength gear I like or visa versa… I like the RP idea of me and Vette borrowing clothes from each other too! Like sisters. Stockholm syndrome sisters.
Matching gear is important. And now I can obsess over matching myself AND my companion. How do I ever manage to log out?
Well… I don’t. I soloed Black Talon like five times last night when I meant to be sleeping. Level 17-18, it was really easy, and I got about 100 affection with Vette and 200 dark side points every go round. I wonder how many levels I should be above Hammer Station before I can solo that one too? ‘s much harder to pick up the extra oranges you need when there are other players around and you have to wait for them to listen to the dialogues and all that.
Either this player is a ridiculous Quinn fan, or they’re just impressively creative when it comes to being unoriginal with names. Weird or weirder, I can’t decide.
In other news, my screenshot button is broken in TOR. No matter how I rebind it, spam it, etc, it doesn’t work. I’m stuck with printscreen->copy->paste->save. This is really annoying. Anybody know a fix?

For anyone wondering where I disappeared to: I finally have access to SW:TOR. Three characters on Lord Adraas, and one on Ebon Hawk later, I remembered the rest of the world existed.

Found another interview with the Lead Writer of SW:TOR. Have some choice quotes:
“We sat down at the beginning and said, we’re going to do a love letter to Star Wars. We’re going to make everything we loved about Star Wars, that fascination, running around with your plastic X-Wing when you were a kid. That’s our Star Wars.”
“One of the things that’s really interesting about writing for interactive fiction is, what you’re trying to do is make the best player experiences and choices in each place. So the sooner and harder you can make those choices, you can make the player define themselves as a character, the more they take ownership of their story and the more affection they have for their character.”
“You basically have a trinity of social input. You have the morality the game is saying, which is the dark side/light side system. Then there’s your own morality, which may not match with that at all. “Whaddaya mean that’s dark, that’s not dark side!” And then your companion character comes in and starts giving you attitude about what they want. And then obviously the fourth one comes in when you start playing multiplayer. Somebody opens up their chat thing and says, “Seriously, Care Bear? Really? You’re really gonna do this?” It’s interesting to watch all those dynamic forces affect the player, see how they interact with the storytelling method.”
My god, I love this guy’s interviews. I love all of this. Did you know Qyzen (the first Jedi Consular Companion) and Mako (the first Bounty Hunter Companion) have backstory together? Did you know that the 1 option in a dialogue is the ‘default class voice’? (Vader, Luke, Boba Fett, Han Solo, etc?) DID YOU KNOW STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC IS AWESOME?
I knew.

it worries me that they’ll make live changes without thinking about the consequences. instead of nerfing slicing to make it blow alongside the other gathering skills, the other gathering skills should have been improved.
if someone wants to make their money through gathering skills, freaking let…
Bioware was putting their vanity mounts at prices around 1.5mil credits. Consider that the equivalent of the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth (20k warcraft gold). Thus, they probably want the average non-GTN-playing character to have something less than 1.5mil in their pocket, same as the average warcraft player has less than 20k. Slicing was going to make 1.5mil about a week’s worth of allowance, and that’s assuming the move towards running missions off of phones didn’t go mainstream and make 1.5mil pure pocket change while also driving people who played the game without a smartphone and tunneling app out of the economy.
NPCs have set prices and dailies have set rewards, so Bioware has to keep the economy in line with those numbers. They messed up on estimating people’s gains from slicing. The amount of work it’d take to put NPC items on a shifting price basis to keep taking the right % of credits out of the economy would be ridiculous since the game is built on a similar framework to WoW. Not only that, but to let item prices follow the profits of slicers would make slicing absolutely required instead of just mostly required. Bioware has clearly designed the game with the intent of players trying out the trios of crew skills. Hence, slicing was breaking their design—-> nerfbat.
With that nerf done, the rest of the economy should balance out soon. I look forward to selling a lot of blue and purple mods. Slicers can look forward to selling a lot of neat schematics and arguments. Bioware can look forward to all of us logging on to do our dailies to pay for repairs and maybe save up for those 1.5 mil speeders… Win — Win.
