I wonder how many characters I’ll have to rename this time.

Checked the newspost and the FAQ— 12 character slots, starting tomorrow! No news on exactly which servers characters are being transferred to though. Also not sure what to do with two sets of DOI/SFP guild banks…

Quiet/Structured RP Events for The Ebon Hawk
So, cantina RP and naked dancing gets really boring, really fast, and I know we’ve had a couple of people indicate that they have wallflowery-type characters who aren’t into that sort of stuff anyway.
To that end, I’m going to start a list of ideas for quieter/more structured RP events that we might want to try to do:
- Storytelling and Slam Poetry Night (people take turns telling a story ICly, the story may or may not be about them)
- Imperial Philosophy Society Meetings (where people take turns discussing the Force, or ethics, or politics, or what have you)
- A literal Meet and Greet event (I did one of these on WoW where everyone sat in a circle and tossed a ball back and forth, asking and answering questions about themselves)
- Combat or Exploration “missions” (find an assassin, rescue somebody from somewhere, using a custom IC channel to maintain communication across worlds)
PLEASE THINK OF MORE, I’M BAD AT THIS
I will happily post anyone’s events to the swtormblr and I can probably figure out how to work swtor-rp and ebon-hawk.com as well to get off-tumblr folks. On the other hand, we may also want some small events for the shy folk, without too much publicity.
Couple of other ideas off the top of my head:
- In character flashpoint runs (Establish a goal other than the NPC’s stuff and this can be really fun! Limit of four people is the downside. Running a normal mode with high levels is an easy way around requiring a traditional party make up though.)
- Cross faction jobs like spying, making deliveries, sending challenges, overtures of friendship and diplomacy.

I hope I’m not the only person who gets these types of whispers! :P
I’ve actually always been curious about whether or not there are any men in SFP, given the high percentage of women in Tumblr fandom.
I also really ought to get around to attempting to rejoin one of these days. Caide was a member before the server transfer, but hasn’t managed to find her way back into the fold yet.
There are multiple active men in SFP, and the guild was actually named after Quinn’s (and other companions) tendency to do the boobs-and-butt thing in screenshots. Our republic guild has a non-gendered name. Still, I didn’t name the guild, and sometimes I worry about people being harassed over it… /hugs all the guildies.
It’s a good name though.

I’m confused, what’s this about a server move?
The SWtOR devs are talking about possible server merges/voluntary transfers as part of the upcoming 1.3 patch. If I’m hearing it right, I think our guild officers are canvasing for peoples’ opinions and ideas about that- things like whether and where we can/should move the guild if the option arises.

Welp, spending money didn’t work
New Graphics card arrived. I installed it. I updated the drivers. I uninstalled my old drivers. SW:TOR still won’t go five minutes without having a driver error or other crash.
I completely switched hardware. Nvidia to AMD. I swapped from windows XP to windows 7. My new graphics card drivers should be totally different and yet the errors are totally the same. They come at the same pace, even. And so it seems the problem lies not with my computer, but with the game.
I may make a big tech support help post on the official forums (done) or reddit, see if it turns out I need to replace my cpu or something instead, but right now I’m betting on waiting for a patch.
I don’t want to go back to warcraft. I am attached to my SWTOR characters and their storylines and want to help my guild.
I hope a patch with fixes for the crash to desktop known issue comes soon.

spending money
I have ordered a new graphics card. It has two fans and I got $50 off. Also the company sponsored the recent Dreamhack Qualifiers for my favorite pvp game, so I was inclined to look favorably upon them. Hopefully this means I should be back in game with the graphics turned up within the week.
Hopefully I did not screw anything up checking against my motherboard and power supply’s support for the card.

No SWTOR for me
Well, I have gone through my bookmarked threads on all the possible ways to get more performance for SWTOR, but no luck. I think it comes down to the hardware in this/the case. Having a graphics card only one iteration above the minimum requirements isn’t enough anymore. Worked for 1.0 but not for 1.2. I have some possible upgrades marked out with lots of fans and new technology, but there’s going to be a bit of a real life financial delay on that.
I can get on vent, I can take five minutes in the game if we need to buy another bank tab, but I can’t do more than a cutscene or two without crashing and certainly not a warzone. No flashpoints, no dailies. Very sad.
Luckily, I have a team of excellent officers who shouldn’t need me for much until I can get this case upgraded. A few pep talks, natch. Always, anyone can come to me with concerns and I will bang heads together until they are no longer worthy of concern. I don’t need to get in game for that.
Perhaps I’ll get some art done…

work work zug zug
Figured out how to work the IJ and updated the sidebar links and some tags. Gonna give people a bit more time, then send out the taun fawn tauntauns (MAILBOXES ARE COMPLETELY FULL OF TAUNTAUNS RIGHT NOW; CLEARLY IT IS TIME FOR EVEN MORE TAUNTAUNS) and start a few new threads, then make a main swtormblr post about it all. Maybe some updating to the IJ tips and tricks thread as well…
BTW, if not apparent from above capslocking, the legacy tauntauns are in game now and they are very cute.
